Based in Portland, Oregon, I am a happy transplant from the hot & humid southeast United States. Like many photographers and artists, I am drawn to the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest, and have resided here for many years now. I even love the rain! My specialty is film photography. I prefer the warmer aesthetic, and the archival permanence qualities of film. Over the years, I have worked as a newspaper photographer, and done extensive freelance commercial work that includes books, magazines, weddings, brochures, websites, etc. Using a camera has been a favorite way of expressing creative energy, and my passion for photography is a gift I am very thankful for.
I first earned an A.S. Degree in Photographic Technology from The Southeast Center for Photographic Studies in Daytona Beach, Florida, then a few years later earned my B.F.A in Applied Visual Arts from Oregon State University. My passion for photography further led me to pursue a Masters of Education from Portland State University, endorsed in Art and Social Studies. This decision was highly influenced by my love of National Geographic magazine, and a desire to teach what I know and love about using a camera to document the beauty of people, and the environment around us.
My method of photographing people is to make them comfortable being themselves in front of the camera, allowing their personality to be illuminated in the images. My job is to work with who each individual is, or the unique chemistry that makes up a happy, loving couple or family. I am interested in capturing the essence of the occasion, along with the surrounding environment. Please feel free to contact me, and we can discuss what your particular interests are, and how to bring your unique personality to your portrait session or wedding event.
